Toms Ivans from AERODIUM team took the 1st place in Freestyle Open Class at “The Wind Games 2020”, at the most mediatic indoor skydiving competition in the world. More than 180 flyers with a wide range of ages, from 7 to 51, competed to climb The Wind Games podium in 5 different modalities: Formation Skydiving (FS & FSF), Vertical FS (VFS), Freestyle (Freestyle & Freestyle Jr.), Speed Races (Solo Speed, 4 Speed & Relay Races), and Dynamic (2WD).
Toms Ivans, the FAI World cup champion of freestyle indoor skydiving 2018, continues to prove his professionalism and to challenge his competitors:
“I’ve been preparing for this competition for over a year because I wanted to take flying to a new level. Each time the jury and spectators must be surprised by something unprecedented. Competitors are growing very fast, so I myself have to grow twenty times faster. The ideas for the movements came from the break dances I had been actively engaged in earlier. I created breaking in the air, or the breakdancing of the 21st century.
As an athlete, of course, I want to win every race I attend. But you never know how you will perform. I do my best, the rest is in the hands of the judges ”.
Toms Ivans is an AERODIUM affiliated flyer, who is a professional of the bodyflight sports since 2012. Ivans was the personal trainer of Tom Cruise for his flying scenes in the “Mission Impossible: Fallout” movie, has set a Guinness World record for the most stunts in a wind tunnel within 1 minute, has elaborated the choreography for and portrayed Jack Sparrow in the flying scenes of Shanghai Disneyland show “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
