Jungle Island is an eco-adventure park with extraordinary animals from around the globe on Watson Island, Miami, Florida, United States. The park, formerly known as Parrot Jungle, underwent massive reconstruction and expansion after sustaining damage when Hurricane Irma hit Miami in 2017. To reinvigorate and kickstart the park Jungle Island decided to add something fresh and exciting for the customers to experience.

I talked to Aaron Parkinson, Owner, and Patrick Pires, Marketing & Communications Director, about how SuperFlight.Zone has become one of the prime attractions of Jungle Island and generated buzz for the whole park.

Ivars:  Congratulations on having one of the first open-air wind tunnel experiences in the nation! What has been the feedback from the customers?

Aaron: The initial feedback from the customers has been absolutely amazing. We’ve had as young as three-year-olds through to grandmothers at 87 years old at the moment.

Patrick: The adrenalin rush and the adventure that SuperFlight brings is incredible! We hear things like “oh my god, this was amazing, this was incredible!”.

Ivars: Patrick, for you as a Marketing & Communications Director, how has the tunnel added in terms of media exposure?

Patrick: As everybody knows social media is huge in nowadays and influencers are the big thing nowadays, and as a communications and marketing director here for Jungle Island it’s always a challenge to bring in an influencer because you know they have millions of followers, it’s not an easy task.

But I got to be honest with you guys since we brought SuperFlight here it has made our lives a lot easier when it comes to that. Why? Because influencers want to do it. They are actually reaching out to us, they want to come here they want to experience, they want to share with others. We get influencers that would normally charge a lot of money to do a post and with SuperFlight they don’t even care about money, they just want to be present they want to get to fly, they want to share the content with their friends so it’s super cool, I love it!

Ivars: Were there any concerns before setting up the wind tunnel?

Aaron: So one of the biggest concerns we had being inside a jungle environment with birds and alligators and, you know, exotic animals, was the noise that something like this would produce. After installing the product were actually very happy with the sound levels of this currently producing, and it’s not disturbing any of the animals that we have here at Jungle Island.

Ivars: What has the experience working with AERODIUM been?

Aaron: The support has been amazing. I currently own about eight different companies with different partners and different partnering companies. I would say the experience with AERODIUM has been one of the best I’ve encountered so far. From the installation of the Latvian team coming in, right through to the instructors, the marketing team, the social media team, to the website developers, the whole team from AERODIUM has done an amazing, amazing job and I couldn’t have dreamed up a better team to be working with us.
